I first met Bev when she came to my practice to have her eyes tested six months after we opened. We chatted a lot about the launch plan for my new practice and over subsequent visits she gave me lots of free tips and advice, particularly how to target our key customer groups. I then got involved in an opticians network called Sitecare who provide members with news stories. Their content is excellent but they do need tailoring before they can be sent to local press. I knew Bev had lots of contacts so I asked her advice.
I now meet Bev monthly and she helps us plan our marketing activity and communicate better with our customers. We now issue regular press releases to local press, send customers an e-news full of entertaining news and offers and we are also using social media more. Our website is updated with news and offers on a regular basis and we run competitions and themed shop window displays to attract new customers who may be passing by. There has definitely been an uplift in business and I am really pleased with the progress. Having Bev on board also gives me an expert sounding board for new idea and approaches.
In 2016, we won the AOP new practice of the year award and were shortlisted for the Notingham Post Women in Business Awards as a result of Bev’s help to write the awards entries.
