Chartered Marketer Status Approved Until June 2017

That time of year has come again, when the Chartered Institute of Marketing assess the quality of its members continued professional development (CPD) to determine whether or not to grant Chartered Marketer Status. Thankfully, Simple Marketing Consultancy is very pleased to announce that Bev Cook has had her membership reapproved until June 2017.

In comparison to previous years, the process to achieve Chartered Marketer status has become much more stringent. Whereas in the past, the process of re-applying for your membership involved demonstrating 35 hours of CPD activity annually for a minimum of two consecutive years, the process has become a much more thorough examination.

Unlike other professions like the legal, accounting and banking sectors where to become a respected Lawyer, Accountant or Bank Manager you have to pass the appropriate examinations, it seems that these days almost anyone can give themselves the title of Marketing Professional, without first obtaining a DipM or becoming a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

In order to renew her CIM status, as well as evidencing 35 hours of CPD, Bev had to complete an on-line skills assessment questionnaire and write four reflective statements covering core topics that encompass strategic thinking and championing the customer. In addition, reflective statements had to be written on related technical topics, such as integrated marketing communications, digital capabilities and how to monitor and measure success.

The authority to grant the esteemed Chartered Marketer Status was approved by The Queen’s Privy Council in 1998 and ever since The Chartered Institute of Marketing has been recognising professional excellence by awarding Chartered status.

Chartered Marketer status is the pinnacle achievement for any marketing professional and is the symbol of an experienced and trusted practitioner. To achieve this status a chartered marketer must continually demonstrate they have kept up to date with the changes in customer trends and attitudes, advancement in marketing technologies and the adoption of latest in marketing best practices.
